New Building Story
23rd July 2007. The preparation begins..
The site is levelled.
8th August 2007. The existing school toilet block waits to be moved.
The crane arrives.
The lifting gear is prepared to pick up the toilet block.
Ready to go!
The lift begins. There are concerns that the lift might squash the block.
So far , so good
The toilet block is rotated to fit on it’s new plot.
The toilet block is walked into position.
The building is very slowly lowered onto concrete pads.
21st August 2007. The big day! The road is prepared for the crane.
The crane. It’s enormous.
The jacks are down and the crane is stable.
The first section of the new pre-school building arrives.
The first of the five sections is lifted from the truck and over the hedge.
Down goes the first section.
The second section arrives on a truck and is lifted in.
The first two sections are joined.
The pre-school children arrive to welcome their new home…
… and excitedly watch the third section arrive.
Three bits and the building is starting to take shape.
A glimpse of the interior shows how much space we are going to have.
Section number four arrives quickly and has to wait it’s turn.
Four sections and our new building is nearly here.
The final piece of the puzzle arrives.
All five section are joined and the building can be fitted out.
Taylor Plant and Chew Valley Construction made it all happen.
After just one week, there was a garden….
…walls…
… and a kitchen.
Two weeks later and the finishing touches appear. The Belfast sink…
…French Doors…
… and carpet.
Another week gone by, builders gone and furniture arrives.
More furniture!
Finished!!!
1st Nov 2007. Parents and children wait on the first day after the move.
Coats hung up in a proper cloakroom for the first time ever.
The children explore their new classroom…
…their new book corner…
Look at all the space!!!
